Congratulations!! Congratulations! It took quite a while, but you finally
managed to find the last nail to seal the coffin for Westwood Village by
eliminating the 2 hour free parking at the Broxton Avenue parking facility.
Small businesses rely on walk in sales, and at a minimum, it will cost at
least $6.00 - $7.50 for a person to park, walk to a CLOSE store, purchase
items and walk back to their car. If the city wants to change management
companies to achieve a reduced total operational cost, that is fine, but yo=
u
must keep the 2-hour free parking to support the small local business which
are still open for business. Think when the last time was you left your
downtown offices and walked the streets of Westwood Village. It has become =
the
skid row on the westside. Notice the number of closed stores. Notice the
number of people walking around the streets on drugs or other mental issues
and notice the number of people sleeping on the sidewalks or in alleys.
Westwood Village has become the Charles Dickens description of early London=
.
If there is any hope of having small business survive in Westwood Village, =
you
must reconsider having the 2-hour free parking available.  As a side note, =
I
have been living in Westwood since 1966 and I have seen and lived through t=
he
ups and downs of Westwood Village, and unfortunately, it is at one of its
lowest level.
