Donald Trump announced Friday that he ordered two nuclea= r submarines to be =E2=80=9Cpositioned in the appropriate regions=E2=80=9D = amid a war of words with Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's S= ecurity Council. 

Medvedev reminded Trump on Thursday about hi= s country=E2=80=99s Soviet-era, doomsday strike capabilities that would lau= nch nukes even if all of Russia=E2=80=99s leaders were killed. 
=E2=80=9CBased on [Medvedev=E2=80=99s] highly provocative statements =E2= =80=A6 I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the approp= riate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are m= ore than just that. Earlier in the week, a frustrat= ed Trump shortened the deadline for Putin to reach a ceasefire with Ukraine= to "10 or 12 days," saying he is =E2=80=9Cnot so interested in talking any= more.=E2=80=9D

Unlike Joe Biden's administration, whose every move e= scalated or prolonged America=E2=80=99s proxy war with Russia, Trump wants = peace in the region. But he is still playing a risky game by shrinking the = ceasefire deadline and dialing up the rhetoric in his latest move.

White House Defends Decision= to Fire Labor Stats Official 

White House economic adviser Ken Hasset defended the president=E2= =80=99s decision to fire the Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika = McEntarfer after the July jobs report showed less than stellar results and = drastic revisions for May and June=E2=80=99s numbers. 

The BLS= reported Friday that the United States economy added 73,000 nonfarm payrol= l jobs in July, a number weaker than expected by economists. In response, T= rump called the report =E2=80=9Crigged=E2=80=9D and said that he asked his = team to fire McEntarfer.

=E2=80=9CThe bottom line is that there wer= e people involved in creating these numbers. And if I were running the BLS = and I had a number that was a huge, politically important revision, the big= gest since 1968 actually ... then I would have a really long report explain= ing exactly what happened. Friday=E2=80= =99s report showed massive revisions to the jobs numbers originally tallied= by the BLS. The U.S. added 19,000 jobs in May, compared to the initial rep= ort of 144,000. And in June, the country added 14,000 after the initial 147= ,000.

Israeli Settlers Kill Another American Citizen

Morning Note previo= usly reported on the death of 20-year-old Florida man Sayfollah Musallet, w= ho was =E2=80=9Cbrutally=E2=80=9D beaten by a group of Israeli settlers in = the West Bank. 


Yet again, another American citizen has perished at = the hands of Israeli settlers. Khamis Abdul Latif Ayyad, 41, died from smok= e inhalation after Israelis ignited a fire while targeting cars and homes i= n his village late at night, according to a report. 


The State Depart= ment confirmed his death in a statement. 

 

"We can confirm the death of= a U.S. citizen in the town of Silwad in the West Bank. We offer condolence= s to the family on their loss and are providing consular assistance to them= . We condemn criminal violence by any party in the West Bank," a State Dep= artment spokesperson told the Miami Herald.

 

Ayyad's brother described him = as a dedicated, hardworking family man liked by his community in Chicago: <= /span>"He was loved by everyone. He caused no problems at all," the brother s= aid. 

 

Ayyad tragically leaves behind a wife and five children, ages 6-= 15.
