Upcoming RFQ for PDB of the Pure Water Southe= rn Water Purification Treatment Facility*

Project Description: The Pure Water Southern California P= rogram (Program) is a partnership between the Metropolitan
Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) and the Los Angeles Co= unty Sanitation Districts (Sanitation Districts) to reuse treated wastewate= r that is currently discharged to the ocean. At full build-out, the Program= will help meet the region=E2=80=99s needs by providing up to 150 million g= allons (mgd) of water daily. Phase 1 of the Program is planned to produce 1= 15 mgd of purified water primarily for groundwater replenishment and raw wa= ter augmentation at Metropolitan=E2=80=99s existing water treatment plants = through direct potable reuse.
Metropolitan will be seeking qualifications from firms to design and constr= uct an Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) co-located at the Sanita= tion District=E2=80=99s A.K. Warren Water Resource Facility using a progres= sive design-build delivery method. The project will require pump stations, = chemical storage and feed systems, procurement and installation of various = advanced water treatment processes such as membrane bioreactors, reverse os= mosis, and ultraviolet disinfection with advanced oxidation, and various el= ectrical improvements including switchgear, solar power, and battery storag= e. Additional ancillary and support facilities will include laboratory, adm= inistration, maintenance, and outreach buildings. Other Program components,= including the conveyance, pumping, and groundwater recharge facilities, wi= ll be advertised separately using either design-bid-build or alternative de= livery methods (to be determined).

The approximate estimated design= and construction cost of Phase 1 AWPF is between $1.5 and $2.0 billion.

Tentative Schedule:
Issue RFQ No. 1365 to select an AWPF design-build firm in= first half of 2024.
Award a progressive design-build contract: December 2024<= /span>
