PREPARE FOR 2024 RENEWALS & EXPLORE BUSINESS TAX EXEMPTIONS

All businesses are required to file an annual tax renewal regardless of whe=
ther or not your business generated revenue for that tax year. Filing your =
renewals timely avoids late penalties and fees and also ensures that you ca=
n take advantage of all available tax credits and incentives. Business tax =
exemptions, such as the Small Business with global gross receipts less than=
 $100,000, and Creative Artist require timely filing of renewals.
To renew you will need:
1. Your 15-digit account number (format: XXXXXXXXXX-XXXX-X)
2. Your business address - street number
3. Your business address zip code

The Office of Finance offers two methods for you to file your renewals ( ht=
tps://finance.lacity.gov/tax-education/business-tax-registration-renewal/ho=
w-file-renewals ). We encourage all taxpayers to utilize our eFiling system=
 to file their business tax renewals. The e-filing system will automaticall=
y calculate your business tax liability. If you qualify for an exemption, o=
r otherwise owe nothing, submit your business tax form on-line and you are =
finished! If you would like to utilize the other method to file your taxes =

als ) for instructions and forms for traditional paper filing.

Due to the success of the temporary L.A. Al Fresco program, the City of Los=
 Angeles has worked through a coordinated effort to establish a new, perman=
ent program. Applications will become available beginning *February 1, 2024=
.*
In order to facilitate a smooth transition to the permanent program for exi=
sting Al Fresco participants, the following is now available:

* *Online Al Fresco Transition Guide.* ** *Please note, whether you are a n=
ew applicant or a temporary use authorization holder, you are expected to s=
ubmit an application to offer outdoor dining.*
* *Assistance Helpline.* ** *Departments are now available to answer any qu=
estions you may have. Please refer to the list below for contact informatio=
n. You can also access their contact through the online Transition Guide.*
* *Webinars.* ** *The City will host monthly webinars every first Wednesday=
 of every month during the transition period to cover specific topics and a=
nswer questions live.*

Temporary Use Authorizations for outdoor dining activities were automatical=
ly extended through *July 31, 2024.* This date will now be displayed on you=
r certificates, which can be accessed and printed through your online appli=
cation ( https://go.citygrows.com/users/sign_in ). Please read through the =
following step-by-step guide ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AxBXKeNuKJm=
haXYSLF9sdFeaJ8u7ArNd/view ) to access a PDF copy of your certificate(s). T=
o do this, you must log in to the account that originally created your appl=
ication. This temporary authorization will provide businesses a six-month p=
eriod to attain a permit and become compliant with the new program. The app=
lication portal for permanent Al Fresco dining will open on February 1, 202=
4. Businesses must complete the process in its entirety by July 31, 2024. B=
usinesses are encouraged to apply early to allow for adequate time for appl=
ication review and approval. Starting August 1, 2024, your temporary author=
ization will no longer be valid.

EMPLOYABILITY BUSINESS GRANT

*The EmployABILITY Business Grant* offers small and medium-sized businesses=
 grants of $20,000 to $200,000 to help grow their businesses and provide jo=
b opportunities for individuals with disabilities. In addition, business ow=
ners can use funds for consulting services, new equipment, accessibility mo=
difications to their locations, and more. It=E2=80=99s free and easy for bu=

RESTAURANTS CARE

SoCalGas will contribute $1 million in aid from its donor advised fund to s=
mall restaurant owners through the Restaurant Care Resilience Fund.
The Restaurant Care Resilience Fund was created to help small restaurants w=
ith improvements, upgrades, employee retention, and to manage debt, losses,=

Application are now open for residents of Los Angeles County who are at ris=
k of losing their housing within the next 30 days. The micro loans through =
the Step Fund are ZERO-INTEREST micro loans of up to 2,500 to help you pay =

SOCAL GAS - GAS ASSISTANCE FUND
Due to several factors (including widespread, below-normal temperatures; hi=
gh natural gas consumption; reduced natural gas flows; and pipeline constra=
ints, including maintenance in West Texas), customers will likely receive g=
as bills that could be double or higher compared to last year=E2=80=99s win=
ter bills.
In response, the Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas) recently annou=
nced a $1 million contribution to the Gas Assistance Fund.
The Gas Assistance Fund is a joint effort between SoCalGas and United Way o=
f Greater Los Angeles, working with non-profit organizations throughout our=
 service territory, to help income-qualified customers pay their natural ga=
s bill with a one-time grant of up to $100 per household. To qualify for GA=
F, you must meet the following requirements:

* The natural gas bill must be in the name of the applicant requesting assi=
stance.
* The bill address must be the applicant=E2=80=99s primary residence.
* The applicant must not apply for more than the maximum GAF allowance for =
the current program year.

THE SENIOR GRANT PROGRAM
The Senior Grant Program ( https://www.lacda.org/home-improvements/senior-g=

J1vwyhy8 ) assists with mobility and habitability repairs to help low-incom=
e seniors (62 years or older) remain in their homes and age in place. Senio=
rs must reside within the unincorporated areas (UA) of Los Angeles County S=
upervisorial Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5, and must own the home, which is in n=
eed of home modifications and repairs.
Additionally, the Program will finance deferred maintenance repairs such as=
 roofing, plumbing, electrical, or heating that are necessary to improve th=
e structural integrity of the home and prolong the home=E2=80=99s useful ag=
e.
Maximum Grant Amount: $15,000

FREE KITCHEN PAIL
OrganicsLA is a curbside organics recycling program from the City of Los An=
geles, mandated by *Senate Bill 1383* , a statewide mandate aimed at keepin=
g organic waste out of landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Effective immediately, residents serviced by LASAN are required to place fo=
od scraps and food-soiled paper, along with yard waste, in their green bin.=
 The City of Los Angeles will pick up the green bin weekly and the collecti=
on day will remain the same. To help residents start recycling their food s=
craps, LASAN is offering a free kitchen pail to City of Los Angeles residen=
ts. These pails are available for pre-registered pickup at participating di=
stribution sites, one pail per household, while supplies last. Pails are no=
t required to participate in the new organic waste recycling program. Any c=
ontainer of choice (e.g., bowl, paper bag, etc.) can be used to collect foo=
