PREPARE FOR 2024 RENEWALS & EXPLORE BUSINESS TAX EXEMPTIONS=  
All bus= inesses are required to file an annual tax renewal regardless of whether or= not your business generated revenue for that tax year. Filing your renewal= s timely avoids late penalties and fees and also ensures that you can take = advantage of all available tax credits and incentives. Business tax exempti= ons, such as the Small Business with global gross receipts less than $100,0= 00, and Creative Artist require timely filing of renewals.
 
To renew you will= need:
1. Your 15-digit account number (format: XXXXXXXXXX-XXXX-X)
2.  Your business address - street number
3.  Your business address zip code

The Office of Finance offers two methods for you to=  f= ile your renewals.  We encourage all taxpayers to utili= ze our eFiling system to file their business tax renewals. The e-filing sys= tem will automatically calculate your business tax liability.  If you = qualify for an exemption, or otherwise owe nothing, submit your business ta= x form on-line and you are finished! Temporary Use Authorizations for outdoor dining activities wer= e automatically extended through <= strong>July 31, 2024. Thi= s date will now be displayed on your certificates, which can be accessed an= d printed through your online application. Please read through the following step-by-step guide to access a PDF copy of your certificate(s). To do this, you m= ust log in to the account that originally created your application. This te= mporary authorization will provide businesses a six-month period to attain = a permit and become compliant with the new program. The application portal for permanent Al Fresco dining will open on Fe= bruary 1, 2024. Businesses must complete the process in its entirety by July 31, = 2024. Businesses are encouraged to apply early to a= llow for adequate time for application review and approval. Starting August= 1, 2024, your temporary authorization will no longer be valid.

SOCAL GAS - GAS ASSISTANCE FUND  = ;
 
Due to several factors (including widespread, below-normal tempe= ratures; high natural gas consumption; reduced natural gas flows; and pipel= ine constraints, including maintenance in West Texas), customers will likel= y receive gas bills that could be double or higher compared to last year=E2= =80=99s winter bills.
 
In response, the Sou= thern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas) recently announced a $1 million co= ntribution to the Gas Assistance Fund.
 
The Gas Assistance F= und is a joint effort between SoCalGas and United Way of Greater Los Angele= s, working with non-profit organizations throughout our service territory, = to help income-qualified customers pay their natural gas bill with a one-ti= me grant of up to $100 per household. To qualify for GAF, you must meet the following requirements:
 
  • The natural gas bill must be in the name = of the applicant requesting assistance.
  • The bill address must be the applicant=E2= =80=99s primary residence.
  • The applicant must not apply for more tha= n the maximum GAF allowance for the current program year.
  • The applicant must meet the income guidel= ines listed here.

THE SENIOR GRANT PROGRAM 
 
The Senior Grant Program assists with mobility and habitability repairs to help low-income se= niors (62 years or older) remain in their homes and age in place. Seniors m= ust reside within the unincorporated areas (UA) of Los Angeles County Super= visorial Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5, and must own the home, which is in need = of home modifications and repairs.
 
Additionally, the Pr= ogram will finance deferred maintenance repairs such as roofing, plumbing, = electrical, or heating that are necessary to improve the structural integri= ty of the home and prolong the home=E2=80=99s useful age.

FREE KITCHEN PAIL
 
OrganicsLA is a curbside organics recycling program from the Cit= y of Los Angeles, mandated by Senate= Bill 1383, a statewide mandat= e aimed at keeping organic waste out of landfills and reducing greenhouse g= as emissions.
 
Effective immediatel= y, residents serviced by LASAN are required to place food scraps and food-s= oiled paper, along with yard waste, in their green bin. The City of Los Ang= eles will pick up the green bin weekly and the collection day will remain t= he same. To help residents start recycling their food scraps, LASAN is offe= ring a free kitchen pail to City of Los Angeles residents. These pails are = available for pre-registered pickup at participating distribution sites, on= e pail per household, while supplies last. Pails are not required to partic= ipate in the new organic waste recycling program. Any container of choice (= e.g., bowl, paper bag, etc.) can be used to collect food scraps and take th= em to the green bin.
