Effective September 29, 2022, the COVID-19 Supplemental Pai= d Sick Leave was extended through December 31, 2022. Under this law, full-t= ime employees are entitled to up to 40 hours of paid leave if they are forc= ed to miss work after being diagnosed with COVID-19 or need to care for a f= amily member diagnosed with COVID-19. AB 152 amends the law to allow employ= ers to require a third COVID-19 test within 24 hours of a second positive t= est and allows employers to deny additional COVID-19 SPSL to employees who = refuse to submit to tests. California=E2=80=99s Paid Family Leave p= rogram allows California workers to take paid leave to bond with a new chil= d (through birth, adoption, or foster care) or to care for a seriously ill = family member.  
 
Beginning July 1, 2020, this paid leave expanded from six (= 6) to eight (8) weeks. Additionally, California=E2=80=99s Paid Family Leave= program also expanded the twelve (12) week non-paid protected leave to all= businesses, regardless of business size. Bus= inesses impacted by California=E2=80=99s Paid Family Leave program will hav= e increased costs such as training and upskilling existing staff to cover d= uties of the employee on California=E2=80=99s Paid Family Leave, in additio= n to, hiring and training additional staff to cover the duties, marketing, = recruitment, and other training costs.

COVID-19 Business Comp= laint Portal
 
The City is working to ensure compliance with the City= 's Safer at Home Order. Violations of businesses to requirements for operat= ion as set forth in the order can now be reported using the complaint = portal. The City Attorney's office will review all reported potent= ial violations. Other City personnel will educate businesses in violation&n= bsp;of the requirements. Repeat violators will be subject to progressive en= forcement penalties which range from citations to fines to water and power = shut off. 
 
The complaint portal can also be used to file complaints re= garding the misuse of parks or public spaces, violations by skilled nursing= facilities, construction sites or landlords.
