When the Tasmanian tiger went extinct in the 1930s, the southeastern Austr= alian island lost an apex predator that kept its ecosystem in check=2E Toda= y, scientists announced a new plan to combine the DNA of that species with = that of living relatives—and make it “de-ext= inct=2E”
