More than seven decades ago, two researchers made extraordinary fossil fin= ds from 260 million years ago in a three-acre patch of southern Brazil=2E B= ut as the years passed, others could not retrace their location, and the ca= che that traced a prehistoric wetland was “lost=2E”

Helped by a local resident, government officials, and u= niversities, researchers have found the site, uncovering a fossil bonanza t= hat includes at least six or seven plant species (pictured a= bove), one species of mollusk, and two of fish=2E Some species might b= e new=2E “It’s beyond what I’ve ever seen,” pal= eontologist Felipe Pinheiro says=2E “The= re’s so much there, it would be impossible to collect them all=2E&#x= 201D;
