The saying goes: All roads le= ad to Rome=2E That phrase was inspired by the Via Appia= (the Appian Way), a Roman-era “superhighway” that has all bu= t disappeared=2E

In centuries past, the Appian Way symbolized the Ro= man Empire’s might=2E Now, Italy is restoring the ancient road, hopi= ng to create a pilgrimage route through history=2E

Italian photograp= her Andrea Frazzetta, who traveled the Appia fo= r us, is very passionate about his heritage=2E “As a photographer I = was initially interested in the subject because of the beauty of the itiner= ary and the photographic opportunity it presented to me,” Andrea sai= d=2E

“Now that I have delved deeper, I realize that we are ta= lking about an invaluable heritage that risked disappearing, and it is time= for the country to recover this itinerary and enhance its memory=2E”= ; (Pictured above, the Arch of Drusus, the start of the planned 360-mile Ap= pia walking journey=2E)

Andrea’s life, however, began at the = end=2E His family roots are in Brindisi, where the ancient Roman highway st= ops=2E
