slation that phases out fossil fuels in new construction. Our recent repor=

  and Grid Ready (https://urbangreencouncil.us15.list-manage.com/track/cli=

 found that heat pumps save carbon even with today=E2=80=99s power supply=
 and that we have ample headroom to electrify NYC=E2=80=99s buildings befo=
re major upgrades to the grid are necessary. But misinformation abounds.

Urban Green has identified electrification roadblocks and proposed a range=
 of solutions=2C but the path to 80x50 remains unclear.How do we continue=
 to move forward? That=E2=80=99s what we=E2=80=99ll be addressing on June=
 15 at our 2022 conference=2C Electri-fiction to Electrification: Overcomi=

c policies and market forces move toward decarbonization=2C it=E2=80=99s t=
ime to look at why progress on electrification has been slow. We=E2=80=99l=
l find out what barriers remain and how to overcome them by examining:
* The future of energy codes
* Advances in heating and energy retrofits
* Case studies on hot water heat pumps in multifamily buildings.

Our work to date shows that there=E2=80=99s no reason to wait to electrify=
=2E And the fact that fossil fuel-burning furnaces=2C boilers and hot water=
 heaters emit more carbon in NYC than anything else underscores the need t=
o act now.
