A Luxury Cruise Ship Will Provide Bucket-List Travel Experiences

- Journeys of personal discovery.
- Meaningful travel.
- Transformative getaways.=C2=A0

These are the buzzwords and the types of experiences that travelers crave t=
hese days - a trend that has only been heightened by the grueling two-year =
pandemic that is now finally winding down around the world.

This is an experience that will satisfy your deepest desires. Listen well t=
o them, because they may reveal secret wishes that could, translate into a =
luxury ocean experience.

The effortless style of the Mediterranean, the majesty and charm of the Nor=
dic Fjords, the history and culture of the British Isles, the natural splen=
dor of Hawaii, or the exotic locales of South America. Whatever destination=
you choose, here are several reasons why a luxury ship will deliver unforg=
ettable bucket-list travel experiences.

A journey beyond a cruise
If you carefully choose a luxury lifestyle brand, the trip will feel more l=
ike a journey than just a cruise. Rather than focusing only on the onboard =
experience, it will be a more immersive and enriching personal experience t=
hat encompasses the people you travel with, the people you meet in destinat=
ions, how you get in touch with a deeper part of yourself, as well as the e=
ntire process of planning, flipping through the pages of a brochure, and fl=
ying to the departure point.

Throughout the trip and when you ultimately disembark, you will feel exhila=
rated rather than exhausted. The essence of a trip like this helps travel a=
dvisors build lasting relationships with discerning travelers who seek deep=
er connections within themselves and to the places they visit.

=E2=80=98Slow=E2=80=99 cruising
Just as the Slow Food Movement represents a more connected and complete exp=
erience of enjoying and appreciating one=E2=80=99s culinary activities, slo=
w cruising encourages a more authentic experience at an unhurried pace of t=
ravel.

Itineraries may blend celebrated destinations on the beaten path with hidde=
n gems off the beaten path, and take guests to lesser-traveled harbors. Few=
er ports may be visited, with relaxed mornings and later departures or even=
staying in port overnight, and with perhaps only one day at sea. Check iti=
neraries well, as the distinction combines exceptional planning along with =
the matter of the finesse with which the cruise line delivers the destinati=
on experience.

Choices for personal enrichment
Most luxury travelers have no interest in participating in a jam-packed, 9-=
to-5 schedule of activities while traveling. Rather, they seek the flexibil=
ity to discover and connect with the destinations visited in their own time=
 and way.

The finest luxury ocean travel companies will give guests the choice to cur=
ate their own perfect day, whether it be on ship at anchor or in destinatio=
n, perhaps explored just with their traveling companion by personal car ser=
vice or with people they met onboard. Another example would be personalizat=
ion regarding wellness pursuits, whether onboard or experiences arranged in=
destination. The outstanding feature is enrichment through personal choice=
rather than on a rigid schedule.

Intimate spaces
Study after study has shown that one aspect of the luxury lifestyle travel =
experience is synonymous with the intimate spaces that can be discovered an=
d savored onboard. Guests seeking transformative travel experiences tend to=
want all-suite, oceanfront accommodations with ample space for their perso=
nal at-sea residence.=C2=A0 By comparison they prefer smaller and diverse p=
ublic spaces that allow for more choice and seclusion. The sprawling restau=
rants and theaters of the larger ships are replaced with smaller and more d=
istinctive eateries and lounges, as well as smaller pools with private caba=
nas. With more intimate venues and fewer guests, there exists an appealing =
choice of spaces to be alone or to join in with others.

The luxury of privacy
Along with the luxury of choice and the luxury of space already mentioned, =
the luxury of privacy completes the triumvirate. Luxury travelers expect ho=
me-like comfort at their home at sea. Without compromise, they anticipate m=
aintaining the same lifestyle onboard as they do in residence. The all-suit=
e accommodations, in-suite personalization and flexible dining deliver on t=
he promise of exceptional guest privacy.

Service befitting the affluent
The crew on a luxury ship develops closer relationships with its guests, ma=
inly through their impeccable service. They know your name, your favorite d=
rink, your culinary preferences, and more. That kind of anticipatory servic=
e at every turn translates into a feeling of respect and privilege - and wh=
o doesn=E2=80=99t want to feel that while traveling?=C2=A0

The elegance of the all-inclusive
There is a particular grace and elegance that is the hallmark of the afflue=
nt. A cruise line=E2=80=99s all-inclusiveness contributes to that sense of =
luxury in that no monies need change hands onboard. All food and beverages =
and tipping are included. In-suite personalization may consist of being wel=
comed with a fine chilled French champagne instead of a Prosecco, or with t=
he suite being stocked in advance with the guest=E2=80=99s alcoholic or sof=
t drinks of choice. Of course, internet access is included.

Charlie's 2 Tips of the month=C2=A0

Tip #1

This is a great way to stop worrying whether you forgot to turn something o=
ff before you left home: Create a little "proof" by snapping a photo and ad=
ding it to a "vacation ready" photo album on your phone.

Yes, really. Take a photo of your closed garage, unplugged beauty appliance=
s, and even your stove dials.=C2=A0 So that when you have a moment of panic=
, you can just look at your photo album, take a deep breath, and get back t=
o your vacation.

Tip #2=C2=A0

Universal Orlando Opens Quiet Room for Guests with Autism
The new quiet room is located near the front of Universal Studios Florida t=
o the right of the Studio Audience Center.=C2=A0

A new quiet room for guests who could use a break from the bustling theme p=
arks recently opened at Universal Orlando Resort.

A resort spokesperson confirmed the room, located near the front of Univers=
al Studios Florida to the right of the Studio Audience Center and Lost and =
Found, will be open when the park is.=C2=A0

Guests don't need to reserve the room, but will need to wait until it is va=
cant to use. A 30-minute time limit is encouraged.

It has rubber floor tiles, an activity wall panel and two hiding tunnels.

The room is a dedicated space for guests with autism and other cognitive di=
sabilities. Universal Orlando Resort's=C2=A0Guide for Guests with Cognitive=
Disabilities=C2=A0also lists quiet areas within its theme parks that typic=
ally have lesser foot traffic.

Princess Cruises=E2=80=99 New West Coast Cruise Deployments Visit=C2=A0Hawa=
ii, San Francisco,=C2=A0 =C2=A0San Diego and Mexico=C2=A0

Several Princess Cruises ships will be sailing itineraries from California =
and Texas.

More cruise attention will be paid to the West Coast, especially since Prin=
cess Cruises has announced new deployments through 2023 in San Francisco an=
d San Diego, California, as well as Galveston, Texas.

Returning a ship to San Diego gives more options for West Coast guests, and=
Galveston makes a Princess cruise easily accessible to millions of Texans.

Beginning in September and going through February 2023, Diamond Princess wi=
ll be based in San Diego, embarking on five- to 16-day Mexican Riviera,=E2=
=80=AFCalifornia Coast and Hawaiian Islands itineraries. There will even be=
a special 20-day voyage to Central America, roundtrip from San Diego in No=
vember 2022.

Meanwhile, Royal Princess will be positioned out of San Francisco for the 2=
022-2023 West Coast season starting in September 2022 following its Alaskan=
runs. The ship will also depart for Hawaii, Mexico and the California Coas=
t.

Both Royal and Ruby Princess will homeport in San Francisco until Ruby repo=
sitions to Galveston for sailings from December 2022 to April 2023. From th=
e Lone Star state, the ship will feature five- to 11-day cruises to the Wes=
tern Caribbean, as well as a pair of 16-day trans-Panama Canal trips betwee=
n Galveston and San Francisco.=C2=A0

Rounding out the Pacific fleet news, Coral Princess is set to return to Aus=
tralia by June 2022.=C2=A0

Deploying these three ships to service over the next two months will mark t=
he return of the entire Princess fleet, once our highly anticipated return =
to Australia is approved by local authorities.

Online Travel Agency Fined $2.6 Million for =E2=80=98Dishonest and Predator=
y=E2=80=99 Behavior
While many travel advisors, and some consumers, have long been aware of how =
online travel agencies (OTAs) game the system, the New York State Attorney =
General also took notice, levying a fine on one of the more popular OTAs in=
 business.

New York-based OTA-operator Fareportal, which runs CheapoAir and OneTravel,=
is being fined $2.6 million by New York because of deceptive marketing pra=
ctices. The OTA boasts that it is ranked in the top 5 online travel compani=
es in the U.S. by revenue and in the top 3 online travel companies in the U=
.S. by monthly traffic. =C2=A0

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced this week that the fine w=
as being levied because the company =E2=80=9Cused deeply deceptive tactics =
to trick millions of consumers into booking airline and hotel rooms,=E2=80=
=9D with =E2=80=9Cdishonest and predatory behavior.=E2=80=9D

Most notably, James and New York targeted =E2=80=9Cdark patterns=E2=80=9D t=
hat Fareportal, and other OTAs, typically use to =E2=80=9Ctrick consumers i=
nto buying goods or services.=E2=80=9D

That includes tactics like telling customers that they have the best prices=
for a limited time, or that the best rate is only available on two more ti=
ckets, which =E2=80=9Ccreates a false sense of urgency and social pressure =
to induce customers to book airline tickets or hotel rooms.
The fine also targeted Fareportal=E2=80=99s use of =E2=80=9Ccountdown timer=
s, misleading disclosures related to the service fees that were added to th=
e price of airline tickets, and misleading statements related to the policy=
for cancellations made within 24-hours of booking,=E2=80=9D along with =E2=
=80=9Cfictitious prices in purported markdowns for airline tickets.=E2=80=
=9D

=E2=80=9CAll of the conduct was designed to increase the percentage of visi=
tors to Fareportal=E2=80=99s platforms who would complete a purchase,=E2=80=
=9D James=E2=80=99 office wrote.

In a striking message, James ordered Fareportal to pay the fine and then =
=E2=80=9Censure that all messages related to the supply or popularity of tr=
avel-related products and services are based on accurate data or informatio=
n.=E2=80=9D

=E2=80=9CIn addition, Fareportal is required to ensure that any comparison =
prices used in promoting discounted prices for airline tickets are prices a=
t which the listed tickets were actually offered to consumers. The agreemen=
t also requires Fareportal to make accurate disclosures related to its serv=
ice fees and its cancellation policy.

I Took My First Cruise At 50 Years Old, And Wish I Had Done It Sooner
by HEIDE BRANDES, March 3, 2022

I=E2=80=99ll be the first to admit that I may have been a little judgementa=
l when it came to the idea of cruising.

In my mind, I pictured giant 30-story, all-inclusive floating resorts that =
were filled with loud partygoers, screaming children, irritable and snappy =
vacationers, or singles trying to =E2=80=9Chook up=E2=80=9D or find their n=
ext victim, er=E2=80=A6 I mean partner.

Even before I turned 50, the idea of sharing a ship with thousands of stran=
gers intent on eating and drinking themselves into a stupor while bombardin=
g little destinations with drunken reveling and entitled behavior was tortu=
rous. I would rather=C2=A0not=C2=A0travel than travel on a cruise ship.

Boy, was I wrong=E2=80=A6 and more than a little close-minded and judgy abo=
ut the idea of cruising. Like so many other aspects of travel and life, cru=
ising is not a blanket, one-size-fits-all way to vacation. Yes, party boats=
do exist, but so do smaller excursion-style ships. Yes, a Disney Cruise ma=
y be filled with children howling in delight while high on sugar, but anoth=
er cruise may cater to the quiet, more mature crowd.

Let=E2=80=99s face it. I didn=E2=80=99t know squat about what a cruise was =
like until I took my first one at 50 years old. I wish I had done it sooner=
 and here=E2=80=99s why.

When I was invited as a hosted guest for=C2=A0Hurtigruten Expeditions=E2=80=
=99 inaugural cruise=C2=A0to the Galapagos Islands this January, I was one =
of the few guests on the ship who had never taken a cruise before. I had me=
t Anders Lindstrom, who represented=C2=A0Hurtigruten, at an industry event =
this past fall, and he explained just how different a small-ship, expeditio=
n-style cruise was from what I had pictured in my mind.
So, when he invited me to hop on board, I was thrilled to try my first crui=
se, sailing throughout the eastern Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuad=
or.

Finding a cruise ship that fits your style and that caters to your vacation=
goals can be the difference between an experience that is all right and on=
e that is memorable and fantastic. The most noticeable difference between c=
ruises is size. And those differences, between small ships that hold anywhe=
re from 25 to a few hundred people on an expedition cruise and the large sh=
ips through major lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Disney, are vas=
t.=C2=A0
For instance, one of the major cruise lines (Royal Caribbean) has some of t=
he largest ships in the world and, when fully booked, can carry roughly 7,0=
00 people. That=E2=80=99s the population of most suburbs!

Expedition-style, small-ship cruises, however, usually have, at most, maybe=
200 people. The Hurtigruten cruise to the Galapagos I took sailed on the=
=C2=A0MS=C2=A0Santa Cruz II, a newly-renovated ship that has a maximum capa=
city of 90 passengers.
While I=E2=80=99m as social as it gets and all for a big party, I think tha=
t size of ship was more suited to what I wanted. While the larger cruise li=
nes seem, to me, to be =E2=80=9Camusement parks on the water=E2=80=9D with =
a ton of activities to do every hour, the=C2=A0Santa Cruz II=C2=A0was less =
hectic with no shortage of quiet places to get away from the crowds.

On our cruise, the MS=C2=A0Santa Cruz II=C2=A0had only 35 passengers for it=
s inaugural cruise, which meant I was able to meet each one of my fellow sa=
ilors and make new friends.

As I said, I=E2=80=99ve never been on a giant cruise with one of the major =
cruise lines, so I may be completely misguided on my perceptions. Please do=
n=E2=80=99t take my hesitation as reasons not to go on a large cruise. I ha=
ve dozens of trusted friends who swear by them and love taking cruises. But=
, know your style, your abilities, and your tolerances, and choose what fit=
s your dream vacation.

One of my favorite aspects of the Hurtigruten Expeditions cruise to the Gal=
apagos was the conservation, education, and science that was embedded into =
all of our activities. Don=E2=80=99t get me wrong =E2=80=94 having unlimite=
d free beer and wine every day on the ship certainly made some days a real =
party. But for the most part, this cruise was a deep dive into the history =
and ecology of the Galapagos Islands.

Hurtigruten teamed up with Ecuador=E2=80=99s Metropolitan Touring, which ha=
s blazed the way for tours in Ecuador for more than 60 years, and our tour =
guides on the ship were naturalists from Galapagos Islands National Park.

When the English naturalist=C2=A0Charles Darwin=C2=A0first explored the Gal=
apagos on the H.M.S. Beagle in 1835, he described and studied species here =
that evolved differently because of their remote habitat, including giant t=
ortoises and land iguanas. That observation led him to write=C2=A0On the Or=
igin of Species, which changed the world through the subject of evolution.
On this science-oriented cruise, we learned about Darwin=E2=80=99s discover=
ies through daily hikes and excursions, on-board lectures, and by visiting =
science stations that continue the study of these unique species.

Every day of the 6-day cruise, we either took short hikes on the various is=
lands in the Eastern Galapagos to spot red- and blue-footed boobys, wandere=
d among lazy and unpreturbed sea lions, and watched the famous swimming mar=
ine iguanas.
We visited=C2=A0The Charles Darwin Research Center at Puerto Ayora=C2=A0on =
Santa Cruz Island and the=C2=A0The Cerro Colorado Tortoise Reserve=C2=A0on =
San Cristobal Island, both working on captive breeding to boost the numbers=
of these giant reptiles and bring them back from the brink of extinction.=
=C2=A0

One day, we also visited a local sugarcane/cacao plantation on Santa Cruz, =
where we learned about raising sugarcane and making sugarcane moonshine. We=
also explored the remote and unpopulated Santa Fe and South Plaza Islands,=
both of which have unique landscapes and iguanas that can only be found in=
 those locations.
The cruise wasn=E2=80=99t all science, though. We had plenty of time to lou=
nge in the on-board hot tubs, snorkel in the waters of the Galapagos, take =
leisurely boat rides to see wildlife, and taste some amazing food on board.

Water shoes are a must on this Hurtigruten experience. Most of our landings=
 were in=C2=A0pangas=C2=A0=E2=80=94 small inflatable boats =E2=80=94 and a =
few of them were what are called =E2=80=9Cwet=E2=80=9D landings. In other w=
ords, you step out of the panga into the water to get to shore, so make sur=
e you have a good set of water shoes.
What I Liked Best

My first cruise at age 50 was a delightful experience. What I liked most ab=
out it was the organization of the trip from start to finish. When I arrive=
d in Quito, Ecuador, the staff of Metropolitan Touring and Hurtigruten arra=
nged everything from start to finish, from the flights to get to the Galapa=
gos and handling luggage to making sure all dietary needs were met.=C2=A0

The crew made certain our luggage was waiting in our cabins as we did the m=
andatory safety meeting, and each day, we were debriefed about the schedule=
for the next day. Basically, all I had to do was make sure I had my life j=
acket, remember to check out everytime we left the ship, and eat and drink =
whatever I wanted.=C2=A0
The rooms on the MS=C2=A0Santa Cruz II=C2=A0were roomy enough for me, and t=
he beds were ridiculously comfortable. I liked having a trip to a foreign c=
ountry that was planned so well that all I had to do was show up and enjoy =
myself.

Will I take another cruise? You bet. While the idea of taking a cruise on o=
ne of those massive ships still doesn=E2=80=99t appeal to me, I=E2=80=99m r=
eally excited about future small ship excursions, river cruises, etc.=C2=A0

here are several reasons why a luxury ship will deliver unforgettable bucke=
t-list travel experiences.<br/>
<br/>
A journey beyond a cruise<br/>
If you carefully choose a luxury lifestyle brand, the trip will feel more l=
ike a journey than just a cruise. Rather than focusing only on the onboard =
experience, it will be a more immersive and enriching personal experience t=
hat encompasses the people you travel with, the people you meet in destinat=
ions, how you get in touch with a deeper part of yourself, as well as the e=
ntire process of planning, flipping through the pages of a brochure, and fl=
ying to the departure point. </span></div>
<div class=3D"e2ma-p-div" style=3D"display: block;margin-bottom: 10px;font-=
size: 12px;font-weight: normal;line-height: 1.5;font-family: Arial, Helveti=
ca, sans-serif;font-size: 14px;color: #333;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, s=
ans-serif;font-size: 14px;color: #333"><span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'=
font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Garde", Arial, sans-serif'>Throughout th=
e trip and when you ultimately disembark, you will feel exhilarated rather =
than exhausted. The essence of a trip like this helps travel advisors build=
lasting relationships with discerning travelers who seek deeper connection=
s within themselves and to the places they visit.<br/>
<br/>
=E2=80=98Slow=E2=80=99 cruising<br/>
Just as the Slow Food Movement represents a more connected and complete exp=
erience of enjoying and appreciating one=E2=80=99s culinary activities, slo=
w cruising encourages a more authentic experience at an unhurried pace of t=
ravel. </span></div>
<div class=3D"e2ma-p-div" style=3D"display: block;margin-bottom: 10px;font-=
size: 12px;font-weight: normal;line-height: 1.5;font-family: Arial, Helveti=

ans-serif;font-size: 14px;color: #333"><span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'=
font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Garde", Arial, sans-serif'>Itineraries m=
ay blend celebrated destinations on the beaten path with hidden gems off th=
e beaten path, and take guests to lesser-traveled harbors. Fewer ports may =
be visited, with relaxed mornings and later departures or even staying in p=
ort overnight, and with perhaps only one day at sea. Check itineraries well=
, as the distinction combines exceptional planning along with the matter of=
the finesse with which the cruise line delivers the destination experience=
.<br/>
<br/>
Choices for personal enrichment<br/>
Most luxury travelers have no interest in participating in a jam-packed, 9-=
to-5 schedule of activities while traveling. Rather, they seek the flexibil=
ity to discover and connect with the destinations visited in their own time=
 and way. </span></div>
<div class=3D"e2ma-p-div" style=3D"display: block;margin-bottom: 10px;font-=
size: 12px;font-weight: normal;line-height: 1.5;font-family: Arial, Helveti=
ca, sans-serif;font-size: 14px;color: #333;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, s=
ans-serif;font-size: 14px;color: #333"><span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'=
font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Garde", Arial, sans-serif'>The finest lu=
xury ocean travel companies will give guests the choice to curate their own=
perfect day, whether it be on ship at anchor or in destination, perhaps ex=
plored just with their traveling companion by personal car service or with =
people they met onboard. Another example would be personalization regarding=
wellness pursuits, whether onboard or experiences arranged in destination.=
The outstanding feature is enrichment through personal choice rather than =
on a rigid schedule.<br/>
<br/>
Intimate spaces<br/>
Study after study has shown that one aspect of the luxury lifestyle travel =
experience is synonymous with the intimate spaces that can be discovered an=
d savored onboard. Guests seeking transformative travel experiences tend to=
want all-suite, oceanfront accommodations with ample space for their perso=
nal at-sea residence.=C2=A0 By comparison they prefer smaller and diverse p=
ublic spaces that allow for more choice and seclusion. The sprawling restau=
rants and theaters of the larger ships are replaced with smaller and more d=
istinctive eateries and lounges, as well as smaller pools with private caba=
nas. With more intimate venues and fewer guests, there exists an appealing =
choice of spaces to be alone or to join in with others.<br/>
<br/>
The luxury of privacy<br/>
Along with the luxury of choice and the luxury of space already mentioned, =
the luxury of privacy completes the triumvirate. Luxury travelers expect ho=
me-like comfort at their home at sea. Without compromise, they anticipate m=
aintaining the same lifestyle onboard as they do in residence. The all-suit=
e accommodations, in-suite personalization and flexible dining deliver on t=
he promise of exceptional guest privacy.<br/>
<br/>
Service befitting the affluent<br/>
The crew on a luxury ship develops closer relationships with its guests, ma=
inly through their impeccable service. They know your name, your favorite d=
rink, your culinary preferences, and more. That kind of anticipatory servic=
e at every turn translates into a feeling of respect and privilege - and wh=
o doesn=E2=80=99t want to feel that while traveling?=C2=A0</span><span clas=
s=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Garde", Arial,=

The elegance of the all-inclusive<br/>
There is a particular grace and elegance that is the hallmark of the afflue=
nt. A cruise line=E2=80=99s all-inclusiveness contributes to that sense of =
luxury in that no monies need change hands onboard. All food and beverages =
and tipping are included. In-suite personalization may consist of being wel=

Boy, was I wrong=E2=80=A6 and more than a little close-minded and judgy abo=

ising is not a blanket, one-size-fits-all way to vacation. Yes, party boats=
do exist, but so do smaller excursion-style ships. Yes, a Disney Cruise ma=
y be filled with children howling in delight while high on sugar, but anoth=
er cruise may cater to the quiet, more mature crowd.<br/>

<span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Gard=

=99t know squat about what a cruise was like until I took my first one at 5=

<br/>
When I was invited as a hosted guest for=C2=A0Hurtigruten Expeditions=E2=80=
=99 inaugural cruise=C2=A0to the Galapagos Islands this January, I was one =
of the few guests on the ship who had never taken a cruise before. I had me=
t Anders Lindstrom, who represented=C2=A0Hurtigruten, at an industry event =
this past fall, and he explained just how different a small-ship, expeditio=
n-style cruise was from what I had pictured in my mind.<br/>
<br/>
</span>
<div></div>
<span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Gard=
e", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px'>So, when he invited me to hop on bo=
ard, I was thrilled to try my first cruise, sailing throughout the eastern =
Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador.<br/>
<br/>
Finding a cruise ship that fits your style and that caters to your vacation=
goals can be the difference between an experience that is all right and on=
e that is memorable and fantastic. The most noticeable difference between c=
ruises is size. And those differences, between small ships that hold anywhe=
re from 25 to a few hundred people on an expedition cruise and the large sh=
ips through major lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Disney, are vas=
t.=C2=A0<br/>
<br/>
</span>
<div></div>
<span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Gard=
e", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px'>For instance, one of the major crui=
se lines (Royal Caribbean) has some of the largest ships in the world and, =
when fully booked, can carry roughly 7,000 people. That=E2=80=99s the popul=
ation of most suburbs!<br/>
<br/>
Expedition-style, small-ship cruises, however, usually have, at most, maybe=
200 people. The Hurtigruten cruise to the Galapagos I took sailed on the=
=C2=A0MS=C2=A0Santa Cruz II, a newly-renovated ship that has a maximum capa=

r, the=C2=A0Santa Cruz II=C2=A0was less hectic with no shortage of quiet pl=

ce, though. We had plenty of time to lounge in the on-board hot tubs, snork=
el in the waters of the Galapagos, take leisurely boat rides to see wildlif=

<br/>
Water shoes are a must on this Hurtigruten experience. Most of our landings=

<br/>
My first cruise at age 50 was a delightful experience. What I liked most ab=
out it was the organization of the trip from start to finish. When I arrive=
d in Quito, Ecuador, the staff of Metropolitan Touring and Hurtigruten arra=
nged everything from start to finish, from the flights to get to the Galapa=
gos and handling luggage to making sure all dietary needs were met.=C2=A0<b=
r/>
<br/>
The crew made certain our luggage was waiting in our cabins as we did the m=
andatory safety meeting, and each day, we were debriefed about the schedule=
for the next day. Basically, all I had to do was make sure I had my life j=
acket, remember to check out everytime we left the ship, and eat and drink =
whatever I wanted.=C2=A0<br/>

<span class=3D"e2ma-style" style=3D'font-family: "Arial Black", "Avant Gard=

II=C2=A0were roomy enough for me, and the beds were ridiculously comfortab=
le. I liked having a trip to a foreign country that was planned so well tha=
t all I had to do was show up and enjoy myself.<br/>
<br/>
Will I take another cruise? You bet. While the idea of taking a cruise on o=
ne of those massive ships still doesn=E2=80=99t appeal to me, I=E2=80=99m r=
eally excited about future small ship excursions, river cruises, etc.=C2=A0=
