e overall volume of refinances declined, but activity remained concentrated=

Highest Refinancing Activity in 2023

1. Tennessee: The Volunteer State took the top spot with a refinance rate o=
f 49.4%. This can be attributed to several factors, including a strong hous=

f borrowers who locked in higher interest rates during the pre-pandemic per=

Homes Most Likely to be Refinanced:
* Single-family homes: Detached homes continued to be the most popular type=
 for refinancing, as they tend to have higher equity values and offer more =

* Newer homes: Homes built in the past 20 years were more likely to be refi=
nanced, as they typically have higher energy efficiency and require less ma=
intenance, making them more attractive to lenders.
* Homes with higher equity: Borrowers with significant equity in their home=
